We are pleased to say that the "Prime Time To Curl" project looks like a winning formula for the over 50s and the local
community.
- A healthy activity for the over 50 age group.
- Intergenerational sporting activity.
- A mixed gender sport.
- Development of team bonding.
- Community transport mini-bus (based local to Kelso)
- Social activities both summer and winter.
- Health monitoring by the NHS.
The project
hopes to fund the ice and transport cost to allow the target groups to attend the Border Ice Rink and take part in curling.
The intention
is to use the sport of curling as a vehicle to develop healthy exercise in body and mind.
The sport also
develops a good link between generations and gender also mixing able bodied and disabled people in the same team.
The community
also benefits with the proposed funding of a local community transport mini-bus to be based in Kelso serving the Border area
The green issues have not been forgotten,
and there are many measures and extra equipment to reduce the “Carbon Footprint” in the making of the curling
ice at the Rink.
